MUTATIONS (2017-18)

Mutations (2017-18) forms an extension of the questions already posed in the past by Antoniadis on the relation between reality and its representation. He adopts the form of documentary photography and follows the transformation that takes place in the representation of “refugee routes” from documentary photography in the media through its incorporation into museum spaces. He uses wood boards that have refugee faces printed on them as material findings on those routes. Describing with meticulous diligence the collection of these objects, cleaning, studying and finally presenting them as work of art, Antoniadis invites us to question what finally remains in them from the real story they represent.
